My Approach
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT focuses on the link between thinking, feeling and behaviours. Quite often it is the irrational or negative thinking processes that drive the emotional and behavioural issues.
Basically, what we think about, positive or negative, has a direct impact on the way we feel and behave.
Understanding, challenging and modifying these unhelpful ways of thinking, allows positive changes to be made.
Jungian Dreamwork
This is a creative way of working which taps straight into the unconscious, using imagery and dreams. It can be a very experiential process using such techniques as artwork, visualisations, gestalt.
The pictures we have in our heads can be very powerful and hold the key to both our fears and liberation. It can be especially useful with those who have suffered trauma, or experience recurring dreams or nightmares.
Both of these approaches are useful in my work, but as each client is unique, techniques are adapted to suit the specific needs of the individual.
